- I Am Enough
In this new social world we live in, we sure are more connected. I can travel all over the world and know what my friends are up to in LA. I know what the weather’s like, what people are eating and how cute their dogs are. I see their smiling faces, big and bright catching up in our usual spots, laughing and enjoying themselves.
And I love it.
But in this digitized and positively-charged world we’ve built and enjoy fervently, I wonder what affect this constant stream of other’s success, achievement and happy days has on our own pursuit of happiness and perfection?
Don’t get me wrong – we’ve been “putting our best foot forward” well before the internet. But now with our mobile devices in hand with grinning faces on standby, it feels like perfection and happiness is not only possible, but expected. Social media is there for you to scream it from the rooftops. And if you’re not, why not?
I am a perfectionist. Well maybe more of a micro-manager. This double-edged personality trait has served me well… at times. I never rest on my laurels, I’m always striving for something better – to reach new heights for myself and for others.
But sometimes you need to smell the roses. Sometimes you need to shut the rest of the world out, acknowledge what you have and exclaim: “What I have is enough… I am enough!”.
To break out of my perfectionist prison, I pray. I meditate. I release my thoughts verbally and partake in positive mantras. I treat myself. And I tell myself that I am enough.
Do you know that you are enough?
